No electronics degree needed—get depth, wind, heading (and AIS) in one simple display.
Phoenician Systems makes marine intelligence effortless—for the rest of us.
One day my good sailing friend, Brec Morgan who's put more miles on his boat than a lot of people put on their car, had a dilemma. Two years earlier, he paid a tech a bunch of money to put in an AIS receiver/display. He wanted something simple - to just see what other boats are around him. The tech sold him a system and said he can view everything on his iPad. Great!Unfortunately, he was never told how to do that. I guess the technician just assumed he would know how to do all that tech stuff on his own. Wrong! He's a sailor, not a techie. He recruited me to help him out for reasons I'm sure many of you are familiar with:
He paid good money for this system.
It's gone unused for 2 years!
He just wants to see other traffic at night or in the foggy weather of the northeast.
I saw it in a different light. First and foremost for me, as a fellow sailor, this was a safety issue. My friend, who does a lot of sailing, shouldn't have to jump through hoops to use current marine safety technology. It got me thinking, how many other sailors out there are refusing to install safety tech like AIS, weather, and other devices because it's too complex, it's too expensive, and who needs yet one more device to keep track of when you just want to sail?!
That's when I started developing PropheSea. You shouldn't have to choose between jeopardizing your safety or your finances. It's possible to have the data you need all in one place using your existing sensors. If you have a GPS and depth transducer already, great! If you decide to add wind sensors next year you don't need to buy an entire additional closed system. Need to see your RPMs and fuel level, add that and see everything on one screen.Even better, PropheSea also comes with a boat Wi-Fi network built in. That means you can also see the data on your phone, or tablet, or laptop. That gives you the flexibility to monitor things at night from your bunk. Or another screen at the helm to have chart plotter on the one screen and wind or fuel usage, or anything else you want at the same time.
Phoenician Systems PropheSea

brings together all your information in one easy-to-find place — without breaking the bank, requiring an electronics degree, or tossing away your existing gear.

🔷 What Is PropheSea?
Rugged. Reliable. Ready to Go.PropheSea is a purpose-built marine display system that puts your most important data front and center—clearly and simply.

✅ 7" display – compact, sunlight-readable
✅ 10" display – larger, easier to read at a glanceAll versions visualize real-time data from your existing sensors, including:
✅ Wind (direction & speed)
✅ Depth
✅ GPS position & speed
✅ AIS targets (if connected)Compatible with NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and USB inputs—no complex setup, no vendor lock-in.

Want One On Your Boat First?
I’m looking for 5–10 real sailors to test the first units and help shape the final version.
About the Founder
I’m Lawrence Pisani, founder of Phoenician Systems.
This company started when a close friend — Brec Morgan, a lifelong sailor and member of the John Slocum Society—asked me to take a look at an AIS system he had installed. It was meant to make his boat safer. But he couldn’t use it.
The installer told him he could view everything on his iPad. What they didn’t tell him was how to connect to the unit’s built-in Wi-Fi, how to use the app, or even what the system was doing. So it sat unused.
Not because he didn’t care—but because marine electronics have become expensive, convoluted, and poorly supported for the average sailor.
That’s when it hit me: this wasn’t just a tech problem. It was a safety problem.
Phoenician Systems exists to fix that. We're building marine intelligence tools that are simple, powerful, and designed for sailors—not technicians.
If you can run a cable, you can run our system. And that means more sailors on the water with confidence and control, not frustration and risk.
